To My Friend Melanie
Melanie: my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time in your lives. The loss of your young brother must weigh heavy on your hearts and I pray that God will lift your spirits and help you find peace. With Love, Tracie
A Profound Quote From my Friend Marry
QUOTE OF THE DAY: I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make a life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated, and a person humanized or de-humanized.If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming.

Purdy Little Pardners!
Howdy Y'all: CHI just announced that their next batch of adorable kids is on it's way. Because List 19 came sooner than they thought, they did not have time to compile a list of names, so they named each of the 28 kids after a town somewhere in Utah. I wonder who the new parents of little Moab, Moroni, Brigham, Nephi, Lehi, Virgin and Vernal (yes, those are actually towns in Utah!) will be? He he! Best wishes to all the children and their new families-to-be!
Congratulations Stewart Family!
Back in November 2005, we were blessed to meet and travel with our good friends and Utah neighbors, the Stewarts. We shared the exciting and life-changing experience of bringing our Lucy and their Kaia into our lives. Congratulations to the Stewart family, who received their Letter of Approval for Beckett in Gansu Province today!!
DC, again...
Howdy! Remember back in May I mentioned that our next work HR Conference will be in Cancun? I knew it was too good to be true. Just learned Cancun is out and Washington DC is in. Oh well, at least we will be able to go visit Dan's parents and hopefully this time we will make it to the National Zoo to see the Giant Pandas (Xiong Maos!)

Shopping!
Hi Everyone:
Yesterday, I had our "Pre-travel" Conference call with our social worker. Today, I went to Sears and hit a great 70% off sale on children's clothes. I bought some pajama and shorts sets for Abbie. If it didn't feel real yesterday, buying clothes for our little sweetie today sure did! What fun! I can't wait to dress all three of my little one's alike!
Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!!
It sure feels good to have our LOA (which arrived via FEDEX today.) Tonight we will sign and have sent back to China. We are in the last leg of our wait!!!!
DAY 79!
I must be losing it! It feels like a month has gone by since I posted "DAY 76." It's only been three days! ACK!
DAY 76
Hi Everyone:
Today is Day 76 since we were logged into the CCAA database. Some families, who were logged in 81 days ago, just received their LOAs today. Ours should be coming soon! :)
Silly, Silly Girl!!
A Note From December 2006 About Abbie on the LWB Blog...
"Little Qian, from our top ten photos, was all smiles and grins. I have been told on multiple occasions that she is the smartest child ever to be born in Shantou (I love it!) and she was just so happy and excited to have visitors. She was walking around playing with a big yellow ball and she was just so proud of herself that she could catch it."
That's our happy girl!!!
Here is Shantou!

DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL
The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, and together with Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival forms one of the three major Chinese holidays. Since the summer is a time when diseases most easily spread, Dragon Boat Festival began as an occasion for driving off evil spirits and pestilence and for finding peace in one's life. The festival was later enriched by the legend of the patriot Chu Yuan.
Dragon Boat Festival is highlighted by the dragon boat races, in which competing teams drive their boats forward rowing to the rhythm of pounding drums. This lively and colorful tradition has continued unbroken for centuries to the present day.
The festival's significance as a time for warding off evil and disease is symbolized by a number of customary practices such as hanging calamus and moxa on the front door, and pasting up pictures of Chung Kuei (a nemesis of evil spirits). Adults drink hsiung huang wine and children are given fragrant sachets, both of which are said to possess qualities for preventing evil and bringing peace.
